The Economic and Statistics Department has undertaken key surveys to assess public awareness and behavioural patterns in critical areas. This page highlights two major studies — the Impact Study on Mass Media Campaigns for HIV Awareness and the Endline Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) Survey on electoral participation in Himachal Pradesh.

Impact Study of Mass Media and Outdoor Activities Regarding HIV Awareness in Himachal Pradesh

This study assesses the effectiveness of mass media campaigns (TV, Radio, Hoardings, Bus Shelters, etc.) and outdoor activities on HIV/AIDS awareness, with special focus on Prevention of Parent-to-Child Transmission (PPTCT), testing, treatment, and service uptake. Survey conducted across 5 districts with 500 respondents.

Key Highlights:

  • High reach of TV campaigns on HIV testing and treatment
  • Moderate awareness of Red Ribbon Clubs and AIDS Helpline (1097)
  • Significant gaps in digital tools (NACO AIDS App)

Endline Survey of Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) of Citizens in Himachal Pradesh

This comprehensive survey evaluates voters’ knowledge, awareness, and participation in the electoral process, including voter registration, EVM usage, SVEEP initiatives, and challenges faced by citizens. Survey covered 1700 respondents across 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh.

Key Highlights:

  • Very high voter card possession and EVM preference (91.88%)
  • Strong role of television in election awareness
  • Need for better outreach on digital tools (cVIGIL, KYC App)
